Arroz con Gandules - A Rice dish so flavorful that you won't even care for the sides! You're probably familiar with the name "Puerto Rican Rice" and that's because it's Puerto Rico's national dish. Add roasted pork to the mix and it's a party! Burton Meat Farm serves Arroz con Gandules on a daily basis and it's made fresh every morning for our customers. During the Holiday season, we know how popular this dish can be and as much as we would love to fulfill everyone's orders, we sometimes reach our capacity. So we decided to publish this recipe for you! Now you can use this recipe to cook your own Puerto Rican Rice at home with family & friends. The secret to the great taste: Sofrito! Ingredients
2 cups of Long Grain White Rice
1 can: Goya Green Pigeon Peas 15oz
1 can: Goya Tomato Paste 6oz
Burton Meat Farm's Sofrito
1 Teaspoon of Ground Garlic (Ajo Molido)
2.5 cups of Water
Cooking Directions
Place Caldero (Aluminum Cast/Rice Pot) on stove and medium heat
Add 2 Tablespoons of Sofrito into Caldero
Add 1 Teaspoon of Ground Garlic
Add 2 Teaspoons of Tomato Paste
Sauté the ingredients until golden brown. Stir while sautéing
Next, dump the can of Green Pigeon Peas into a strainer to remove the liquid from the can.
Add the Green Pigeon Peas into the Caldero (Rice Cooking Cast)
Add 2.5 cups of water
Heat Until Boiling
Next, add 2 cups of White Rice
Set the Heat at a low setting (Heat Level 2-3)
Let Rice Cook for 30minutes or until water has been soaked by rice. (Be sure to cook with Lid on Cast)
Stir Rice & Done!
